Baked Beans Recording...the musical fruit

   Meet Rob and  Alan

As best friends since playing music together back in the 60's, Rob Baker (seated in the "thinkers" pose; now retired) and Alan Bean (with his only remaining vice: Java) had a dream that was spawned during one of those typically "philosophical" moments of the early 70's:  someday we would have our own recording studio....in 1992, Baked Beans Recording was born.

What started as a 16-track analog reel-to-reel facility is now one of the best equipped digital studios in the region.    However, any equipment is only as good as the engineer behind the controls...

... Alan has about 44 total years of experience in the music business;  much of it as a player, but about 1/3 of it recording other acts.  Do not underestimate the advantage of having a seasoned musician behind the mixing console.   When the recording artists are looking for a certain sound in their headphones or in the mixdown,  Alan is able to intuitively tweak it out for them quickly.

Alan played the Southern rock circuit based out of Jacksonville, Florida and Macon, Georgia (yes, he played with some of the best known names in Southern rock in the 70's) for about 10 years before hanging up his '59 Les Paul to pursue a degree in medicine.   He lives in the town of Harrison with his wife, Kim, a piano teacher with 45+ students.  He jokes that he just used the M.D. degree to finance his real passion:  the music!  (hmmm...is he really joking???)

We enjoy showing off our toys and meeting new faces, so give us a call to arrange a "tour" of the facility.   By appointment only, please, so as not to disturb our clients.

Note:  we are a non-discriminatory business (aliens are welcome).  We are handicapped accessible, as well (no stairs).
